  • General description: Octocrylene is a commercially used UVB filter, termed as an environmental pollutant because of its stability, lipophilic nature, and resistance to sunlight degradation.[1] It is employed as an ingredient in water resistant sunscreen products and high SPF formulations.[2]
  • Application: Octocrylene may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in the following:         Sunscreen formulations using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) technique.[1]   Marine mammals using ultra high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC).[3]        Solid lipid nanoparticle systems using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique.[2]
