- General description: Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is a chlorinated acetic acid. It is one of the major metabolites of trichloroethylene (TCE).[1]
- Application: Trichloroacetic acid may be used in the following studies:Estimation of phosphorus in various biological samples (serum, urine and stool ash solutions).[2]Elimination of acid-soluble and lipid phosphorous during the determination of deoxyribonucleic acid, ribonucleic acid and phosphoproteins in animal tissues.[3]Preparation of 2-methyl-4-nitroanilinium trichloroacetate trichloroacetic acid (2M4NATCA) crystals.[4]10% Trichloroacetic acid may be employed for the preparation of radioactive proteins.[5]
