Description

  • General description: Lead (II) oxide is amphoteric in nature, capable of reacting with both acid and base.[1] It exists in two forms, litharge and massicot.[2] Lead (II) oxide is commonly used in making lead glass and glazing pottery.[3] Addition of PbO (as a dopant) to Ni-Cu-Zn ferrite increases the densification rate and final sintered density, whereas activation energy of densification was reduced.[4]
  • Application: Lead(II) oxide (PbO) has been used in the preparation of (Pb0.93La0.07)(Zr0.65Ti0.35)O3 powder (PLZT 7/65/35),[5] (Pb0.97La0.03)(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 (PLZT) ceramics[6] and (Pb0.84Ba0.16)(Zr0.54Ti0.46)O3 (PBZT) ceramics.[6]
