- Biochem/physiol Actions: Sodium fluoride (NaF) is used as a major constituent in toothpaste, mouth rinses, and mouthwashes.[4] It is used as a pesticide to control larvae and insects in barns, warehouses, houses, and storage areas.[5] NaF also acts as an esterase inhibitor.[6]
