Description

  • General description: Sodium diethyldithiocarbamate trihydrate is a chelating agent, generally used in mobilizing toxic metals from the human tissues and experimental animals.[1] It exists as a white or colorless solid, and is freely soluble with gradual decomposition.[2]
  • Application: Sodium diethyldithiocarbamate trihydrate was used during the synthesis of N-allylpeptides, in a study outlining the strategy to synthesize and purify a hydrogen bond surrogate (HBS) α-helix in ∼1 week.[3]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: Inhibits induction of macrophage nitric oxide synthase.
  • Other Notes: Reagent used for the extraction of trace metals into organic solvents for atomic absorption spectroscopy[4][5]; Precipitation of trace metals for x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy [6]
