Description

  • General description: 1,10-Phenanthroline monohydrate is a chelating agent.[1]
  • Application: It has been used in preparing 0.1 % phenanthroline solution.[2] In another study, 80μl of 1,10-Phenanthroline monohydrate was used along with nanoparticles to measure iron content using colorimetric assay.3 It may be used in the preparation of [Mn(1,10-phen)2(mal)].2H2O.[3]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: Metalloprotease inhibitor; chelates iron, zinc and other divalent metals. Effective concentration 1-10 mM.
