- Application: Hematoxylin has been used for staining gastric cancer tissues[1], myocardial tissue[2], heart sections[3] and ovarian nuclei.[4]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Hematoxylin is an organic stain which chelates with metal ions and binds to DNA and RNA. It is used for staining nucleus of the cells.[5] Hematoxylin along with eosin stain is used in the diagnosis of invasion stage in tumors.[6]
