Description

• General description: Butyric acid is a four-carbon containing, saturated short-chain fatty acid. It commonly occurs in its ester form in animal-based fats and plant-based oils. It is a potent differentiation agent for cells and also possesses antiproliferative activity. In cultured mammalian cells, it affects growth rate, morphology, and gene expression. It also induces apoptosis.[1][2]
