Description

Mercaptopurine is an anticancer and an immunosuppressive drug employed for the management of acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), Crohn′s disease, etc. Its mode of action involves interference in the nucleic acid synthesis by the inhibition of purine metabolism.[1]
- Application: Mercaptopurine may be used as a pharmaceutical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations,[2] suspensions,[3] and double drug liposomes[4] by chromatography.
