- Included among these are such important species of the order Lepidoptera as the corn earworm ( Heliothis zea ), the tobacco budworm ( Heliothis virescens ), the pink bollworm ( Pectinophora gossypiella ), the cabbage looper ( Trichoplusiani ), beet armyworm ( Spodoptera exigua ), yellow-striped armyworm ( Prodenia ornithogalli ), European corn borer ( Ostrinia nubilalis ), sugarcane borer ( Diatraea saccharalis ), and codling moth ( Carpocapsa pomonella ) and others
- Also included are two species of Curculionidae, the boll weevil ( Anthonomus grandis ) and the alpha weevil ( Hypera postica )
