Description
- Application: Thiamine hydrochloride has been used as a keratin salts medium supplement for culturing log-phase fungus.[1] It has also been used as a supplement of VB medium the minimal medium of Vogel and Bonner.[2]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Thiamine hydrochloride is a cheap, non-toxic and efficient catalyst for the synthesis of amidoalkyl naphthols.[3] It inhibits the production of shikonin derivatives by suspension cultures of Lithospermum erythrorhizon.[4] Additionally, thiamine hydrochloride addition to apple juice concentrates reduces its patulin content.[5]
