Description
- General description: Fibronectin is a ubiquitous protein of the extracellular matrix. It is a mosaic protein, that is made up of three types of repeating modular consensus amino acid sequences.[1] Fibronectins belongs to a class of high-molecular-weight glycoproteins.[2] Cellular fibronectin is expressed by fibroblasts and plasma fibronectin is usually liberated by hepatocytes.[1]
- Application: Fibronectin (FN) bovine plasma has been used in:fibronectin and adsorption analysis (ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay))[3]transwell migration[4]fibronectin assay[5]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Fibronectins participate in cell adhesion, cytoskeletal organization, oncogenic transformation, cell migration, phagocytosis, hemostasis, and embryonic differentiation.[2]
- Analysis Note: Protein homogeneity is evaluated by immunoelectrophoresis.
