Description

  • Application: β-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrate has been used: to prepare NAD+ standard solution for a study on NAD+ metabolomics[1]as a component of MurI assay reaction partial mixture for glutamate racemase reaction[2]as a component of a chromogenic staining solution to stain zebrafish embryos[3]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: β-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (β-NAD) is a cofactor of alcohol dehydrogenase and acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter in visceral smooth muscles.[4] The NAD/NADH ratio has a role in the regulation of intracellular redox potential. It thereby influences metabolic reactions in vivo.[5]

  • Other Notes: Crystalline NAD contains less than 0.1% (w/w) residual organic solvent, is less hygroscopic and electrostatic, and is more stable at ambient temperature than amorphous NAD.
