Description

  • General description: Transferrin is an 80 kDa serum glycoprotein,[1] which is expressed in hepatocytes.[2] The gene is located on human chromosome 3q22.1.[3]Optiferrin™ is recombinant human transferrin that is completelyblood-free. Optiferrin’s performance is equivalent to human holo transferrin incell culture and offers significant regulatory advantages due to its safety andconsistency. Optiferrin is suitable for a broad range of cell types thatinclude stem, primary, and bioproduction cells.
  • Application: Transferrin Human has been used to perform immunoprecipitation measurements.[4] It has also been used for the preparation of essential 8 medium.[5][6]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: Human transferrin was shown to promote allogeneic chimerism in mice after irradiation and transplantation of incompatible bone marrow. [7]
