Description
- General description: Adonitol (Ribitol), a pentose alcohol, is metabolized to teicholic acids used in the cell walls of gram positive bacteria. Adonitol is often compared to other cell permeating molecules such as formamide, propanediol, and DMSO as a cryopreservation agent.
- Application: Adonitol has been used as an internal standard for the quantification of polyribosyl ribitol phosphate using high pH anion-exchange chromatography with pulsed amperometric detection (HPAEC/PAD).[3]
