- General description: DSPE-PEG(2000) is a 18-carbon acyl chain containing phospholipid with a critical micelle concentration of 1× 106 M. It is conjugated with functional groups like biotin, primary amine and carboxylic acid.[1] The micelles display spheroid shape with a size of 18mm.[2]
- Application: DSPE-PEG(2000) Amine has been used:for the generation of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) phospholipid-polyethylene glycol-folic acid conjugate[3]in the preparation of polyethylene glycol (PEGylated) magnetic nanoparticles based liposomes[4]in the preparation of liposomes for myomerger ectodomain based disruption studies[5]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: DSPE-PEG(2000) micelles aids in the solubilization of hydrophobic drugs and their delivery.[1] It is used for coating of magnetic iron oxide-based nanoparticles.[6]
