- General description: EPPS, also known as 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine-1-propanesulfonic acid, is a zwitterionic buffering agent that belongs to the group of good buffers.[1] It plays a vital role in maintaining a stable pH in solutions, which is critical for various biological and biochemical processes. EPPS buffer finds extensive application in biological research and cell culture experiments.[2]
- Application: EPPS buffer has been used as a component of buffer solution for methylglyoxal (MG) treatment in vitro to form advanced glycation end products (AGEs) to crosslink collagen fibrils.[3][4] It has also been used in the preparation of fixation buffer solution for light microscopy.[5]
