- General description: Ethylenediamine is a linear aliphatic diamine, widely used as a building block in organic synthesis.[1][2] It readily forms heterocyclic imidazolidine derivatives, because of its bifunctional nature, having two amines.[3] Ethylenediamine is also utilized as a raw material for the synthesis of chelating agents, polymers, agrochemicals and pharmaceutical intermediates.[1][2][4][3]
- Application: Ethylenediamine can be employed as: A reactant in the synthesis of water-swellable polyurethane urea gels by copolymerization.[5] A solvent along with dodecanethiol in the preparation of CdS nanowires by solvothermal method.[6] A chelating agent in the synthesis of β-Co(OH)2 nanocrystals.[7]
