Description

  • General description: Magnesium is the most common mineral found in the human body. It is a cofactor for more than 300 enzymes and is known to regulate physiological functions like blood pressure, muscle contraction, and neuromuscular conduction.[1][2] It can be used in the preparation of many biomaterials with biomedical applications.[3] Magnesium is widely used in the organic synthesis as an organomagnesium compound viz Grignard reagent.[4]
  • Application: Magnesium can be used:To prepare 1,3-bis[2-(3-n-dodecylthienyl)]azulene, applicable as an acid sensor material.[5]As a catalyst in the cleavage of tetrahydrofuran to 4-chlorobutyl esters.[6]To prepare copper-based composite materials with improved mechanical properties.[7]
  • Other Notes: Based on preparing 0.5 M solution of organomagnesium reagent and 40% headspace
  • Legal Information: Sure/Seal is a trademark of Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC
