Description

  • Application: Ethylenediamine (1,2-Diaminoethane, DAE) can be used as a reagent to prepare various metal ion complexes, which are employed as reducing agents in the following reduction reactions. DAE/Cr(II) complex is used for the reduction of primary alkyl halides to alkanes, and aryl bromides or iodides to arenes. This complex is also used to reduce β-substituted alkyl halides and epoxides to alkenes.[1] DAE/Borane (1:1) complex is used as a highly selective reducing agent for the conversion of cinnamaldehyde to cinnamyl alcohol.[1] DAE/Li complex is used as an efficient reagent for the reduction of alkenes, aromatic hydrocarbons, phenols, and alcohols.[1]
