Description

  • Applications: Pancreatin is used to treat conditions in which pancreatic secretions are deficient, such as surgical pancreatectomy, pancreatitis and cystic fibrosis
  • It has been claimed to help with food allergies, celiac disease, autoimmune disease, cancer and weight loss
  • Product Description: Pancreatin is a mixture of digestive enzymes produced by the exocrine cells of the pancreas
  • It is composed of amylase, lipase and protease
  • The trypsin found in pancreatin works to hydrolyze proteins into oligopeptides; amylase hydrolyzes starches into oligosaccharides and the disaccharide maltose; and lipase hydrolyzes triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerols
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: Pancreatin will convert not less than 25 times its weight of potato starch into soluble carbohydrates in 5 minutes in water at 40 °C, will digest not less than 25 times its weight of casein in 60 minutes at pH 7.5 at 40 °C and will release not less than 2 microequivalents of acid per min per mg pancreatin from olive oil at pH 9.0 at 37 °C.
