Description
- General description: This polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon is soluble in acetone. It is a non-carcinogenic benzopyrene isomer.[1] Studies report its lack of immunosuppressive activity following in vivo and in vitro exposure.[2]In nature, it is metabolized by strains of C. elegans to 3-benzo[e]Pyrene sulphate, 1-hydroxy-3-benzi[e]pyrenyl sulfate and bezo[e]Pyrene 3-O-ß-glucopyranoside.[1]
- Application: Used for studies of immune suppressive activity of bezo[e]Pyrene on antibody response to DNP-Ficoll and sheep erythrocytes[2] and "dispersive liquid -liquid micro extraction” technique by extracting organic compounds from water samples.[1]
