• Cultivate a wide variety of microorganisms using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Mueller Hinton Broth with Cations
• Mueller Hinton formulated this medium as a protein-free medium for the purpose of isolating pathogenic Neisseria 1
• This was later used for testing gonococci and other organisms for susceptibility to sulfonamides 2,3
• More recently, MH Broth with Cations has become useful as a general-purpose cultivation broth
• Cultivate a wide variety of microorganisms with Mueller Hinton Broth with Cations
• Divalent cations calcium and magnesium enrich the medium and serve to support the growth of fastidious microorganisms
• Ready-to-use – Convenience of prepared media
• Mueller Hinton Broth is prepared with beef extract and acid digest of casein that supply amino acids, nitrogenous substances, and other nutrients which are necessary for bacterial growth
• Starch serves as a growth factor and a protective colloid that neutralizes toxic products which may be formed during the growth of bacteria
• Calcium and Magnesium are divalent cations that enrich the medium.
