- Disufide crosslinks of cystines in proteins can be reduced to cysteine residues by TCEP (tris-(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine)
- Unlike DTT (dithiothreitol), TCEP does not contain thiols and therefore usually does not need to be removed prior to thiol modification.
