Description
- General description: Ponceau 4R is a sulfonated azo dye, used as a food colorant to give red color to different food products, such as alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, bakery products, candies, syrups, preserved fruits, etc. An acceptable daily intake (ADI) of 0.4 to 0.7 mg (kg body weight)-1 was set for Ponceau 4R by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in 2009.
