- General description: Pentane (n-pentane) is a hydrocarbon. Its hydroisomerization using a nanocrystalline beta (BEA) zeolite has been proposed.[1] It has been reported as one of the products formed from the peroxidation of unsaturated fatty acid.[2]

Recent research has explored the use of extra-framework aluminum in ZSM-5 zeolites to enhance the production of light olefins from pentane.
