Description
- General description: C12 Carnitine or lauroyl L-carnitine, is a lauric acid-derived serum acylcarnitine. It mediates obesity-induced inflammation in adipose. Elevated levels of lauroyl carnitine in carcinoma-associated fibroblasts (CAF)-adipose tissue acts as a biomarker for obesity, insulin resistance and inflammation.[1]
- Application: C12 Carnitine or lauroyl L-carnitine has been used to investigate its effect on the glycine transporters activity.[2] It has also been used to study its effect on pro-inflammatory activation of macrophages.[1]
