- General description: 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[biotinyl(polyethylene glycol)-2000] (DSPE-PEG(2000) based micelles display a spheroids shape and are effective agents for drug delivery. Their size ranges between 18 nm to 90 nm. It is used with functional groups like biotin added as conjugate.[1]
- Application: DSPE-PEG(2000) Biotin has been used in the generation of biotinylated lipid-coated microbubbles for adhering to human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs)[2] and chicken embryo for ultrasound studies.[3] It has also been used for the generation of giant unilamellar lipid vesicles (GUVs) for live cell fusion studies.[4]
