- General description: Polyvinylpyrrolidone is a large polymer containing a carbonyl, C-N and alkyl functional groups.[1]
- Application: Polyvinylpyrrolidone has been used:to perform intracytoplasmic sperm injection procedure[2]in the preparation of endophyte coating agent mixture, to coat creeping bentgrass seed[3]as a component of prehybridization solution[3]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Polyvinylpyrrolidone can bind to polyphenol. Thus, it is known to be used for RNA isolation from plants rich in polyphenols.[4] It is extensively used in the synthesis of nanoparticles.[1]
- Other Notes: Polyvinylpyrrolidone is a component of Denhardt′s Solution and is included at a concentration of 1% (w/v) in the standard 50X stock solution.
