Description
- General description: Behenic acid is a saturated fatty acid with cholesterol-raising ability in humans.[1]
- Application: Behenic acid may be used as a reference standard for the determination of behenic acid in biological samples by electron ionization-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (EI-GC-MS),[2] in Amazonian palm berry, Euterpe oleraceae Mart. (Acai) by reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) with MS,[3] and in commercial edible oilseeds by transmethylation followed by analysis using GC combined with flame ionization detector (FID).[4]
