  • Application: 4-Nitrophenyl phosphate di(tris) salt has been used:as a substrate to quantify tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) activity in cell lysates[1]to determine phosphatase activity using native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE)[2]for alkaline phosphatase in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)[2]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: p-Nitrophenyl Phosphate (pNPP) is a preferred substrate for alkaline phosphatase in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) procedures, because of its high sensitivity. This substrate produces a soluble yellow end-product and can be read spectrophotometrically at 405 nm.[3]
