Description
- Application: Dexamethasone has been used as a component of osteogenic differentiation medium.[1][2][3] It has also been used to study apoptosis, cell signaling pathways and gene expression.
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Dexamethasone has immunosuppressant and antiemetic properties. It is used to treat postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV).[4] Dexamethasone plays an important role in cardiac transplant, sepsis, cancer and other pathologic disorders. It elevates the level of heat shock proteins.[5] It is an anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid with a range of effects on cell survival, cell signaling and gene expression.
- Physical form: powder 2-8 °C; stock-frozen in working aliquots, avoid repeated freeze/thaw
- Reconstitution: To prepare 20 μg/ml stock solution: add 1 ml absolute ethanol; gently swirl to dissolve; add 49 ml sterile medium while mixing.
