  • LYVE-1 is a disulfide-linked, homodimeric, single-pass type I membrane protein that undergoes ligand-dependent internalization and recycling at the cell surface.  It serves as a ligand-specific transporter trafficking between intracellular organelles (TGN) and the plasma membrane.  It is mainly expressed in endothelial cells lining lymphatic vessels
  • It is expressed on both the luminal and basolateral surfaces of lymphatic endothelium
  • It is reported to mediate the uptake of intermediate and high molecular weight hyaluronan (HA) and serves as a low affinity receptor for HA-induced lymphoangiogenesis
  • It also controls the entry and/or migration of leukocytes in lymphatic vessels
